When your dreams come true...

When I was a little girl I wanted to be a ballerina. Then I decided I wanted to be a singer. I remember having a roll-on deodorant bottle in my hand, playing audio tapes with Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston's songs, and sing in front of the mirror. Somewhere between the ballet and the singing, a writer was born. The truth is I have always loved words. I have been told not once or twice how chatty I am. Well, after all I am a philologist (from the Greek terms φίλος - loved, beloved, dear" and λόγος - "word, articulation, reason", describing a love of learning, of literature). If a few years ago someone had told me I'd be an author, I would probably have thought they were mad. "In the Room Where You Sleep" is real though, and I am holding it in my hands. But how do you write a book, and what does it take to have it in bookstores?

In one of those days when you are sitting on your couch, doing absolutely nothing, you come up with an insight, you take your laptop, and the words start pouring out on the white electronic sheet. Something like that happened to me about five years ago while I was sitting on my couch, doing absolutely nothing. The final result was a single page that didn't really impress me, so I shut down my laptop and didn't touch this file for at least a few weeks. After some time, I remembered that somewhere on my computer there was a page waiting for some company. I didn't know if I was writing a novel or something shorter. I didn't even know what was I writing about. All I knew was that I wanted to write. I used to spend an hour or two after work, some days I had zero inspiration, and was just staring at the screen. But as time was passing by there were more and more pages, and six months later I had a whole story waiting to be read.

I participated in a publishing contest, and then I quickly found a publisher. But after they found out I was moving abroad, they refused to publish me. I was so disappointed and realized how difficult it would be for me to do this. Meanwhile, I did the English translation myself, so I just needed someone to discover me... I spent a few years searching for opportunities, but as it seemed they weren't that many. I had already begun to lose hope when I got in touch with a successfully published English author. He read "In the Room Where You Sleep" and gave me courage and strenght, telling me that this is a story that needs to be published and read by more people. With a lot of inspiration, patience and teamwork, the book was published in the summer of 2018 by a Bulgarian Publishing House. It can now be purchased from Ciela, the Bookstore, Nesim, Greenwich, Orange, as well as from the site of BG Book, Helicon and Ozone.bg. A few months later, "In the Room Where You Sleep" was launched on Amazon (Kindle version).

What is the feeling of holding a dream come true in your hands? When I received so many good reviews and comments from everyone who read "In the Room Where You Sleep," I realized that this is what I want to devote my time to. So many people sent me their pictures, holding my book in their hands, and I believe this is the greatest satisfaction for every author - knowing that you have left something behind, something you will be remembered for.

When someone asks me what is my book about, I am still not sure what is the right answer. This is a story where everyone can find something for themselves because it is about the things that are an inseparable part of our everyday life. You can find out more by clicking on <Books>, and if I managed to get your attention, you know where to purchase "In the Room Where You Sleep" from.
